Author Profile

Once upon a time, in a far away land called Chicago, in May of 1982, a cute little red headed girl was born.  Her parents decided she would be Lindsay with an "A".  And she was.  When the nurse told Lindsay's mother that the "A" in Lindsay was the male spelling of the name, the mother said, "I do not care what you say, this is the way her name will be spelled," for the mother dearly loved the name and nothing anyone could say would change her mind.

Growing up the poor girl read Nancy Drew mysteries, because that is what her mother had grown up with.  While she adored Nancy and reading, she just couldn't quite connect with Nancy.  Then one bright happy day, while she was a freshman in high school, one of her friends came to her and said, "Did you want to borrow one of my Trixies, Lindsay?  I really think you'll love them.  It’s about a two girls and horses."  From the word horses, Lindsay was convinced she would love the books, for she was quite obsessed with horses.  (In fact, she had taken riding lessons since she was six, and dreamed that one day that she would have a horse of her own to ride.) She gladly accepted the cello edition, Trixie Belden and the Secret of the Mansion, the next day with promises to be extremely careful with the beloved book.

The next week, having finished the first book, Lindsay begged her friend Kim to lend her the next in the series.  “It was the most wonderful thing I’ve ever read!”  She happily exclaimed.  Lindsay had connected so strongly with both Trixie and Honey that she could barely wait to read the second book.

It went on like this between Kim and Lindsay for only a short while before Kim and her mother invited Lindsay to join them on an adventure to an antique market in Georgia (their home state) named Lakewood.  Lindsay, waiting through the remainder of the school day in anticipation, could hardly wait to ask her mother’s permission.  To her delight, her mother readily agreed, and even offered her funds to purchase a token or two.

Lindsay and Kim were both ecstatic, for they were the best of friends, but rarely saw each other outside of school.  At Lakewood, Lindsay purchased little tokens for both her mother and father in thanks of letting her accompany Kim and Kim’s mother.  Then, lo and behold!  She found the first two Trixie Belden books for sale, at a very good price; and they were cellos to boot!  Lindsay couldn’t stand still as she purchased them for she was so excited.  Kim and Lindsay also purchased very old model horses, for both fell in love with the models the instant they saw them.

The next year found the friends close, but not as close as they had been.  Kim started a Trixie Belden fan fiction and Lindsay was a willing subject to test it on.  Lindsay, too, started writing, but not Trixie fan fiction, deciding to leave that pleasure up to Kim.  She wrote stories of bands of her own creation.  For years she wrote, still not wanting to touch the Trixie characters, afraid that she would not do them justice.

One day, after Lindsay had married (her wonderful Prince Charming-Husband Jeffrey) and they had a son (Casey was such a doll) she found a Trixie Belden message board.  She was floored, “How could I not have found this earlier?” she asked herself as she quickly joined.

The Clubhouse family quickly accepted Lindsay into their folds.  Lindsay was so happy to have found so many nice people, and fan fiction too!  One friend suggested that she also look over at a message board by the name of Jixemitri.  Her eyes nearly popped out of her head.  There was more than one Trixie fan message board!  Surely she had died and gone to Heaven.

Lindsay immediately joined Jix too, finding more fan fiction.  For weeks she posted at the message boards and read the fan fiction.  More and more of her online friends joined Jix as authors, and she began to think, “I would love to do that.”

One day, one of her closest friends suggested that she go for it.  Lindsay had an idea for a story line running through her mind for many weeks, until she finally sat at her computer, and with her friend’s help, typed it out.  She was so excited that she was one step closer to her goal of Jix Authorship.  She submitted her first story, about her favorite-though often overlooked-character Regan the groom, at the Clubhouse fan fiction page and was surprised by all the positive feedback she received.  Lindsay was so happy to find that people liked her story that she promptly sat and wrote another.  She decided that she would devote her universe to Regan, for they shared a love of horses.

When the time came she applied to be a Jixemitri Author in January.  By late spring, she had found that she didn’t feel she belonged at Jixemitri as an author.  Things didn't work out in the long run and she humbly retired from being a Jix Author, but happily continued writing and upkeeping her site and the rest, as they say, was history…
